Today I Wish You
Today, I wish you a day of ordinary miracles….
A fresh pot of coffee you didn’t have to make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work or shop.
I wish you a day of little things to rejoice in….
The fastest line at the grocery store,
A good sing-along song on the radio,
Your keys right where you look.
I wish you a day of happiness and perfection…
Little bite size pieces of perfection
that give you the funny feeling that
the Lord is smiling on you, holding you so gently
because you are someone special and rare.
I wish you a day of peace, happiness and joy.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person,
An hour to appreciate them, a day to love them,
But an entire life to forget them.
Share the happiness, joy, miracles, rejoicing, peace
And perfection you discover today with the
Special people in your life.
Truth Creates Health, Excuses Destroy it!
If we want to create the utmost health that we can, we have to learn to be honest with ourselves. Let’s look at some of the common excuses people tell themselves and the consequences to health that results.
Excuse: I feel good, there’s nothing obviously “wrong” with me, so I don’t have to worry about my health.
Truth: Waiting for symptoms to show up before we take care of our health is like waiting for the collection letters to come before you pay your bills. We need do positive things to benefit our health on a regular basis in order for our body to work its best.
Excuse: I don’t have time to do the things necessary to take care of my health (eg get adjusted regularly, exercise, stretch, eat healthfully, have down time, etc).
Truth: We have time for what is important to us. If you’re finding it difficult to make time for your health, this means that for now it’s not as important to you as other things.
Life gets busy and priorities change. For most of us, when we don’t have time to take care of ourselves, it’s because we’re busy taking care of other people (kids, parents, spouses) or other commitments (work, school, civic organizations, etc). The problem with this is that if we’re not caring for ourselves regularly, we will find that we have less and less to give to these other things. Remember… Ignore your health and it will go away.
Excuse: I’ve tried Chiropractic, healthy eating, an exercise program, etc. It didn’t work for me.
Truth: In our society, we’ve been programmed for instant results. If we try something and it doesn’t immediately give us the results we expect, we often move on or give up. Yet,
true healing takes time. Most problems (whether it’s spinal or health related complaints, overweight or out of shape muscles), have developed over time. It takes time and the right conditions for healing and improvement to occur. Also, many problems have a few components to their solution. You might need to get adjusted, improve your nutrition and begin to move your body more in order to get the maximal improvement. Add in only one component and it may seem ineffective. Anything you do for your health will benefit your body in the long run.
Excuse: My kids don’t like getting adjusted and it’s just not worth the hassle to bring them in.
Truth: There’s a lot of things kids don’t enjoy— like homework, brushing their teeth and bed time. Yet, as parents, we know these things are important and we see to it that they happen. The same with getting adjusted and other good health habits. If we really understand how devastating subluxation is to our children’s overall health and their future potential, there’s no way we would let them stay subluxated.
THE TRUTH IS THAT TAKING CARE OF OURSELVES CAN BE
DIFFICULT, TIME CONSUMING AND EVEN, AT TIMES, PAINFUL.
YET, IT’S AN INVESTMENT WHICH ALWAYS PAYS GREAT
DIVIDENDS IN THE LONG RUN.
